Few Devices have developed as quickly and remarkable as communication devices in recent years. Communication devices for the hearing impaired, however, have not kept up with the pace of new consumer demands.
Current communication infrastructures are largely designed for the congenitally hearing-impaired, and few devices exist for aiding a population whose aural capabilities are increasingly being challenged by industrialization and the rapid rise of the aging population.
Even though communication devices have become the center of all social, business and familyinteraction, hearing-impaired users are often forced to communicate using specially built terminals with keyboards, or by using text-messaging through mobile phones. However, these terminals are bulky, slow and difficult for the elderly to use.

SBNTECH’s IP Caption Video Phone was designed to address these challenges. The user calls a number just like a regular phone, and at the push of a button the phone is linked to a caption relay station that then completes the call.
The caption center uses speed-recognition technology to transcribe and display the conversation in real time on the phone’s video display, enabling hearing-impaired users to carry out a normal conversation. The video screen can also display the image of the caller in addition to the captions.
The IP Caption video Phone is the world’s first speed-recognition real-time IP caption service that uses a video phone as the terminal. The device also incorporates sound amplification, wireless signalers and other features designs not only for handicapped users but also hearing people.
